Microfinance

Using our Guarantor programme and our operating partnership with MicroCredit Enterprises, 1to4 finances microloans to thousands of impoverished but hard working micro-entrepreneurs through the provision of working capital loans to small neighbourhood banks, known as MFIs, which serve economically marginalised communities.

At 1to4, we recognise that microfinance should be about more than just pure financial services. We therefore provide affordable but sustainable interest-bearing loans to MFI s with a special focus on those which:

• Target women borrowers. 
• Operate programmes to promote health, education, financial literacy and business training.
• Commit to and demonstrate deploying affordable interest rates for micro-loans.
• Promote self-employment and income-generating activities as opposed to consumer loans.
