Small business finance

Although we do not exclude investing directly in small businesses themselves, we favour investing in platforms and activities which then provide finance and field-based support for hundreds of small businesses.

Through monitoring our MFI partners, through numerous field trips, through various investor networks and through attendance of economic development summits and forums, 1to4 is in a unique position to target key small business development areas.

We raise funds through our Guarantor and GiftVest programmes and invest them in equity, convertible debt or debt positions.

In some cases, we also provide a degree of soft or semi-philanthropic capital to enable validation of pilot ideas before making a more traditional start-up investment. Our current investments in Small Business Finance are:
